Nail stencils, on the other hand, nail stencils enable you to decorate your nails with artwork to match particular occasions, holidays, and clothing or simply express your creativity. Similar to stencils used to paint images on walls or text on signs, nail stencils or nail art stencils are used on a much smaller scale.

Follow the article below to have more ideas about making your nail stencils!

Nail Stencils Preparation

Start by giving the nails a nice base coat and/or many coats of nail color to prepare them before applying the stencils. Painting stencil designs onto bare fingernails is possible, but they will not remain as long and may not be as noticeable as when done in layers on a covered surface.

The checklist for Nail Stencil preparation includes the following:

  • Basecoat
  • Nail polishes
  • Topcoat
  • Wax paper or plastic baggie
  • Painters tape
  • Mini Scrapbooking Punch (in case you want to create strange shapes)

Step 01. Applying Basecoat

Firstly, you need to apply the base coat for each nail. By doing this, the nail stencils will remain longer.

Step 02. Create Your Nail Stencils

You can use wax paper or a plastic baggie to create your own nail stencils. You can cut the pattern that you want your nail to have. For example, the chevron shapes. Further, you can use painter's tape and mini scrapbooking punch to create the design you want.

Step 03. Applying the Nail Stencils

After waiting for the base coat to completely dry, you can apply the design of nail stencils that you have done in step 02 on your nail. Make sure the Nail stencils have firmly adhered to your nails, and there are no air bubbles underneath.

Step 04. Time for Applying Nail Polishes

Now you are free to apply nail polishes on your nail. You can choose whatever color you like. You should paint your nail slowly and carefully to ensure that the nail polish is evenly absorbed into the crevice. This will keep your pattern from looking smudged and jagged. After that, leave your nails for about 10-15 minutes to be dried.

Step 05. Take Off Nail Stencils and Finish with A Top Coat

After your nails are dried, you can remove the stencils. Finish with a top coat to ensure your pattern stays as long as possible.
